Dr Linda Briceno Moraia
Researcher in Law, HeLEX
Linda is investigating how the use and impact of innovative technologies in health can be accommodated within existing legal and governance frameworks. In particular, she works as part of an international, inter-disciplinary research project called BioSHARE, which aims to develop harmonised tools, standards, procedures and policies for linking population biobanks within Europe.
Dr Heather Gowans
Researcher in Law (Part-time), HeLEX
Dr Gowans is a part-time Researcher in Law at HeLEX and Heather is a member of the legal team on the Administrative Data Liaison Service (ADLS) project.
Heather Griffin
Research Assistant, HeLEX
Heather carries out research in a wide range of areas, with particular focus on the legal, ethical and social implications of the developments in next-generation sequencing technology. She also has an interest in data protection and intellectual property law.
Dr Karen Melham
Researcher in Ethics, HeLEX
Karen’s work focuses on good practice in medical research, with particular attention to aligning institutions and expertise to encourage both research capacity and public engagement in translational health research. She collaborates on a number of national and international projects related to biobanking, clinical research, and research integrity. Karen chairs NRES South Central Oxford A Research Ethics Committee.
Dr Michael Morrison
STEMBANCC Researcher, HeLEX
Michael is currently working on the IMI STEMBANCC project, providing governance and ethical support to the project . He is also working with Jane Kaye and other HeLEX members to develop novel consent procedures for large-scale biobanking projects.
Dr Sharmini Rajanayagam

Sharmini is currently working on the StemBANCC project, providing research governance and ethical support.
Dr Harriet Teare
DIRECT Project Officer, HeLEX
Harriet provides research governance and ethical support to the DIRECT project, and carries out empirical research.
