About FASS
The FASS group within the Dept of Public Health (DPH) is responsible for the delivery of services such as reception, portering, post-room and print-room, oversees the department’s contracts with catering and cleaning companies and liaises with the University’s Estates Directorate on maintenance and other building-related matters. FASS also delivers some, or all of these services to several fee-paying university & non-university units outside DPH on the Old Road Campus. The group reports to DPH’s departmental administrator.

Health & Safety
The DPH Health and Safety Officer and Fire Officer is the FASS General Manager and she is supported by the FASS administrative assistant in implementing H&S policy for the benefit of staff and visitors, running the DPH H&S Committee and keeping accident report forms, H&S directives and DSE assessments up to date. Some H&S advice is also provided to non-university units on Old Road Campus.

Cleaning
Cleaning and window-cleaning is carried out in the Rosemary Rue building, New Richards Building and also for PGMDE in the Triangle within a single contract with the contract cleaners, Calber. Regular inspections of DPH and other FASS clients buildings are carried out by FASS staff who liaise with the cleaning management and cleaning teams. Problems are reported back to Calber by occupants via cleaning books kept in each building.
